It was an October evening and the sun had just slipped under the horizon beyond the Brahmaputra at the Kachari ghat.

We stood waiting in the golden hour, taking in the impossibly colourful vista of the Uma Nanda temple on the island a ferry ride away. There was a solitary approaching boat in the placid waters. A flock of birds flit across the stunning sky.

And we saw him there at the edge of the shore of Brahmaputra. A lone man watching, waiting. Sandwiched between the vertical ray of the setting sun’s glow and the outline of the ferry, his clear form stood out purposefully amidst the bright golden yellow that filled our frame.

Clearly, a photographer’s delight. Surely, an image we won’t forget and one that our lenz held tight.
