About Us

Hi, we are Malini and Rajesh and we started TravelLenz back in 2009, many a trip after we started travelling together. Before we knew it, the words and images that followed our travels got together to form this little travel blog of ours.

The love of travel and wanting to document the journey enough to be able to make someone else’s travels better is what travel blogging is all about, right? Therein, somewhere, also lies the story of the genesis of TravelLenz.

Like most travel enthusiasts masquerading as passionate 9 to 5-ers (it’s usually 9 to 9, but we will let that pass) in the initial stage of our lives, we made do with the annual mandatory break from work, stealing weekend getaways, slipping in a driving holiday and so on.

And even while pinning down that urge to travel, we took care that this one bug inside us stayed un-quashed.

But our long stints in Delhi and Bangalore – two ends of an expansive, expressive country – and our persistent attempts to escape the daily grind meant we did get to travel around. Not as much as wanted to. But then, we are not complaining.

We did see many parts and facets of India and a bit of the larger world out there. As much as you can while trying to hold down a regular day job.

Then, something snapped.

We said enough is enough after a trip to rustic Ranthambhore and ended up blogging about it. (And not just because we were lucky to watch the majestic Machli for almost an hour enjoying a leisurely meal!!)

..and the KingWe followed up that with trip after trip – from the Andaman & Nicobar islands, trekking in the Himalayas, amidst the mangroves of Sunderbans, on the dunes at Jaisalmer, and more…). While the travels themselves gave us a high, we wanted to share the lowdown with the world.

Thus was born the desire to have our own travel blog and, consequently, TravelLenz. We still weren’t full-time travellers though with every trip and its blog post, we got closer to travel and blogging.

That was when we both decided to do something stupid or cool (depending on how you look at it!), took a two year sabbatical and planned to catch up on some travel and life. What followed were some great moments that reassured us we were on the right path.

And then came a change of scene. We relocated from Delhi to Bangalore. Rajesh quit a long time banking career to join one of India’s largest travel companies to head their content and community initiatives. Malini, a career editor, went on to co-found a digital content and marketing start-up.

Now, we were closer to both travel and to the world of online content. The setting was just right to continue our journeys both in the real world and pushing ahead with how it unfolded in the virtual. It was time to give TravelLenz more time…even as we tried to take more time out for our travels.

TravelLenz is more than a blog to us. It’s a reflection of how we see, feel and experience the world when we travel and a platform for us to relive our travels and also help others in our little way take those trips we took and make them even better.

Reading and researching places, the thrill of packing, reaching the destination, the time spent there, taking photos and videos, looking at photos and videos (ours and of other travellers). And, obviously, the real thing, going on a trip.

Then the circle gets completed when we tell other travellers and the world about our trip in a way that helps others do all the right things we did and avoid the not so good bits.

We truly believe a good traveller doesn’t just feel the joy of travelling for himself. It’s only when you are excited for another traveller to experience the same and when that happens with your little help – inspiring and informing – to make their adventure great too.

Plain honest travel advice. Built on experiences both good and not so good. Useful tips without any promotional fluff. Travel guides the kind we want to read before and during a trip. On our blog, we create content from the perspective of a traveller with the knowledge of a someone who has been there.

In short, trip planning content by travellers, for travellers. Plain and simple.

That’s what we wanted to do with TravelLenz. We really appreciate your time and the interest in our little blog and sincerely hope you find it interesting and useful. And we would love it if you spread the word about our endeavour and do check us out here on www.travellenz.in and on our social media pages.

Of course, if you can also stay in touch, like what we are doing and keep the conversation flowing, we would so love it.

Look forward to your comments and feedback on the content you see here. Should you have any questions, feel free to write in too.

And yes, we would so love to connect on our social media pages to both stay in touch and catch up on our latest travel stories, photos and videos, and other updates.
